My friend Carolyn just sent me some yummy looking dark chocolate candy on fb. Mads wanted to know if I really get the chocolate :) I decided to send all my girl friends a little candy message:

We have the bug

This past Monday we enjoyed a trip to study our state's history. The kids panned for gold and visited a replica of what one-room schools were like in the late 1800's. The girls said this was their favorite part. I picked up a paper that contained rules of the time for the students as well as the teachers. For girls dress code: Skirt hem must not be any shorter than two inches above ankle. Two petticoats must be worn. For teachers: Men teachers may take one evening each week for courting purposes or two evenings a week if they go to church regularly. Women teachers who marry or engage in unseemly conduct will be dismissed.
I must say, we would really have a teacher shortage if these rules applied today!

We didn't come home with gold fever but we have been sick with a flu fever since Monday evening.

(Didn't you know, it is very important for a girl to keep her purse close while panning for gold :)

We have been blessed with the most beautiful weather the past few weeks. High seventies and sunshine causes a bit of spring fever. I have been cleaning away after the Christmas celebrating. Candles have been switched to lighter fragrances. The dark throws put away until next fall. All the changing put me in the mood for new throw pillows. I was not in the mood for overpriced, see-it-everywhere, pillows. Also not in the mood for a huge sewing project. Instead I grabbed a two pack of dishtowels at my favorite retail hangout. Being into a bit of a floral mood as of late, I embellished them with scrap fabric flowers (inspired by this post). Sewn, stuffed and ready for spring. Not perfect, just fun!

The butterfly towel was just sewn and stuffed. Looking back I would have liked to stitch around some of the butterflies and maybe add some sequins of some kind. Simple is good too :)

Today we were blessed with some much needed rain. The bright, new pillows kept the inside sunny.

Fresh

Right from a friend's orchard. The BEST naval oranges ever. We had fresh juice this morning and sweet snacks in the afternoon. It is this kind of fruit that just ruins shopping at the grocery store for me.

Let it shine

I often hear the girls singing one of my favorite Sunday school songs, 'Go tell it on the mountain.'
You may know it : Go tell it on the mountain, over the hills and everywhere. Go tell it on the mountain that Jesus Christ is born.

He is born and He is risen! His gift of eternity should not be kept a secret.

God is challenging us to tell more people about Jesus. We want to tell it at the grocery store, at the car wash, at the restaurant. Everyday we have numerous opportunities to tell someone about Jesus. My prayers are to slow down and tell someone everyday.

No resolutions here. Just striving to be a better daughter of The King. Just trying to be a brighter light.
